The Flinders Medical Centre Foundation welcomes the efforts of the Federal Government to establish the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission which will enable greater transparency within the not-for-profit sector.

The Flinders Medical Centre Foundation does not deduct administration fees from donations, bequests or in memoriams and therefore maintains 100 per cent of donations go towards the nominated cause.

Special events held by the Flinders Medical Centre Foundation, such as the annual pinkyellowblueball, do incur running costs which are deducted from the ticket price.

On Monday, 25th October 2011 The Advertiser published a table of charities and their respective administration fees deducted from donations.

The Flinders Medical Centre Foundation had the fourth lowest-percentage of the 50 charities listed, and was stated to spend only nine per cent of donations on administration or fundraising expenses.

We wish to reassure all donors that the nine per cent refers to the costs incurred by ticketed events or merchandise, and absolutely no administration costs come out of donations made directly to the FMC Foundation.

Donations made through online portals such as Everydayhero do incur fees specific to that website, as stated at the time of donation.
