FLINDERS MEDICAL CENTRE

Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) is a 580 bed public teaching hospital near Adelaide in South Australia that is co-located with Flinders University School of Medicine.

FMC serves the southern suburbs of Adelaide, but also cares for patients from regional areas of South Australia, interstate and the Northern Territory.

Since opening in 1976, FMC has earned an international reputation as one of Australia’s finest public teaching hospitals and as a centre for research excellence.

FMC is unique in South Australia in providing an extensive range of services for patients of all ages, and includes: one of two major trauma centres in SA; an around-the-clock emergency retrieval service that brings patients to FMC by road or helicopter; the South Australian Eye Bank and the South Australian and Northern Territory Liver Transplant Unit.

More than 3,500 skilled FMC staff provide services to people across Australia, from Darwin in the Northern Territory to Mount Gambier in South Australia's south east.

The staff at FMC are also supported by the Volunteer Service for FMC Inc , the largest volunteer service in a South Australian public hospital.
